From the waters of the South China Sea to the shores of Massachusetts — four generations of healing, one unbreakable mission

Where it begins

Our story begins in Huế, Vietnam — an ancient city long revered as a center of culture, scholarship, and traditional healing. There, our great-grandfather, Dương Văn Tiêu, devoted his life to medicine. He carried a profound burden of his own: severe arthritis in his spine that caused him pain throughout most of his life. And yet he never stopped. He treated patients until his final days, earning a deep reputation throughout Huế as a healer of remarkable dedication — a man who gave his gift fully, even when it cost him personally. His patients were not just his calling. They were his purpose.

A living testament

The knowledge Dương Văn Tiêu carried was passed carefully through the generations. His daughter-in-law, our grandmother Nguyễn Thị Liên, became a living testament to what this medicine can do. Nurtured by the healing wisdom of her family, she lived with vitality and grace until the remarkable age of 105. She is not a statistic to us — she is the reason we walk into our clinic every morning. Her longevity is the proof we carry in our hearts, and the promise we make to every patient we treat.

The crossing

In 1987, our family made a decision that took extraordinary courage. Like so many Vietnamese families living under the oppression of the post-war era, we left everything behind. We are the boat people — among the thousands who fled Vietnam on small vessels into the open sea, trusting the unknown over what had been taken from us. We made that crossing in a small canoe, carrying almost nothing but the knowledge passed down through generations and the hope of a new life. So many Vietnamese families never made it. Lives were lost at sea that the world will never know. We are the blessed ones — the ones who survived — and we have never for a single day taken that blessing lightly.

The American dream, lived with purpose

We built our lives here on the South Shore of Massachusetts with gratitude in our bones. Dr. Jimmy and Dr. Bryan are proud to carry this legacy into its fourth generation — not because it was expected of them, but because they understand what it cost to bring it here. What Dương Văn Tiêu practiced in Huế, what sustained Nguyễn Thị Liên through 105 years of life, what crossed the South China Sea with our family in 1987 — it now lives in Hanover and in the lives of every patient we have had the privilege of serving since 2010.
